Get Wise For Schools

Answering the demand for owl knowledge, Woodlands has a new 'Get Wise to Owls' display where the highly experienced Falconer, Geoff Pearson, gives a fascinating insight into the world of owls, which has existed for at least 60 million years.

From the frozen wastes at the top of the world, to the southernmost tip of Australia and from owls small enough to fit in a tea cup to huge birds which can kill a deer, he has fascinating facts and legends to suit all key stages and abilities.

Habitat, food, hunting skills and the ancient art of Falconry make interesting discussions.

The short presentation provides and out-of-the classroom experience with the opportunity for a volunteer to fly a bird, which lands on the glove.
